Need Some Understanding

Leslie complains EVERY season about having nothing to wear. I complain about her complaining every season about her having nothing to wear.

My question to her is this, "Why do you need to go shopping every season?"

Her response, "I'm a girl"

She said if I didn't believe her that I should make a post about it and see what comes up. You see what this crazy blog has done to my ability to make points. I am now incorporating the opinion of "crazy women" to back me up on this. No way!

When I shop I purchase neutral colors and patterns that do not look trendy and cannot be dated. On the othehr hand, she likes to buy prints and designs that will never be worn again because they are dated. We have homecoming this weekend and apparently her closet is empty and shows no signs of winter clothes (it has done this every winter we have been married). My winter clothes just recently came out of the box she put them in.

Am I crazy or does it really take the opinion of women to help me sort this out.

PS I am a tough guy.

mayo- take this as nothing less than an opportunity to be a great husband. For example, your good friends and mine the Schumachers recently had a child. The two were invited to attend a wedding and Kimberly was feeling a little blue about the fact that after the baby she was in between maternity and regular clothes and thus, legitmately had nothing to wear. Instead of being sorry about it or arguing, Jason instead surprised her one night by coordinating Kacy to meet her for coffee and then her informing Kim that her husband had arranged for them to go to the mall together with some pre-arranged money so that his beautiful wife could choose an outfit that would make her feel like the special lady that she is. I like that approach. Try that!

Girls love clothes. Leslie's a hottie and just wants to have some new, trendy styles to wear so she can feel good about herself in what she's wearing. All women need this, so she's not crazy! Maybe a fun gift certificate would work??

I want to live vicariously through her right now, because I can only wear four shirts total.

I am cracking up. James, you need to call Travis for support because I think he wonders the same thing each season.....I don't know what it is about the closet, but it seems to either swallow up all the old clothes, or makes them so unappealing that we sometimes cannot consider wearing them again. All that to say, I don't think your girl is overly-trendy, so I think she deserves a new outfit for the fun weekend!

The Schumachers. He just did that so he could work five more hours.

Since Leslie is a hottie, it shouldn't matter what she wears cause she'll look good

FINE we'll go get clothes. $20 says we come back with a pair of capris and some tank tops.

Leslie,

Found your blog through Kristen O'Quinn's. I didn't go to ACU, but I'm from Abilene. My mom, dad, brother, and sister went there. I was the "rebel" that went "far" from Abilene.....to Lubbock.

My sister was a Siggie, too. I think she might have been younger than you, though. She just graduated in 2004. (I only think she's younger than you b/c I don't recognize any the Sing Song characters you descibe. :) )

I also worked at TCBY. It was my very first job! I miss my free white chocolate mousse!

Have a great Homecoming!

Mayo, Mayo, Mayo,
I must say we are silly and sometimes impractical, but once we decide that we have nothing to wear, we will never get past it. It is a lost battle.

See you Saturday and Leslie, I can't wait to see your new outfit.

JAMES-
you dont even have to wonder where i stand on this issue. Leslie MUST have something new because she is nothing short of FABULOUS and she needs a new outfit to show off the fabulous-ness. so, case closed. shell out the dough.

Wow!!! where do I start. And by the way thanks for this blog, you and Leslie are obviously very special people as is Kaitlyn. Sharing is a part of marital compromise. There is no right or wrong, just opinion. So, as they did at the Alamo, don't "draw a line in the sand" and force the other to "cross over" to show loyalty. Compromise "is not a dirty word", and always works best. Usually when these issues arise, its because of money concerns and a fear of not being able to do something else that might be a priority in the family. The compromise might be one that Leslie---a very beautiful woman indeed---agree to a certain spending limit, and James be willing to sacrifice in some way to allow the sharing to take place. Being religious, I am sure you remember the delimma Solomon faced when he was asked to give a child to two women who were claiming it. His decision was to divide the child and give a portion of the child to each woman testifying to being its mother. The real mother stood up and indicated that the child should go to the other woman. Therefore, Solomon knew who the real mother was. This is not on the scale of the "Solomon decision" but nonetheless important in a relationship. So, James---look at Leslie, tell her you love her---as I am sure you do often-- and ask her what can you contribute to what she wants. I could say women are fickle, I could say men are selfish, but the truth is---this ain't rocket science---just make sure you both win----and don't draw a line in the sand. A good compromise might be that whatever you buy might be subtracted from the "Christmas budget". You could even wrap the new clothes and treat them as presents so that Kaitlyn can see how happy you are to open lots of presents. The in-laws won't know and you both win, being economic and considerate. So James, Leslie, Kaitlyn, enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff, its all small stuff.

Oh Mayo! If nothing else, don't let Schu show you up! Plus, women cannot as easily go to the Gap, pick out several layers, and work it for several seasons like you can. Don't act like you've never cared about clothes--Andy still calls you the honorary Siggie. Weren't you the only straight guy that worked at the Gap in the Dallas Galleria? Oh Mayo--don't forget your roots! Embrace your wife's fashion needs!

Ok - I have to know who the anonymous comment is from. That was intense!
Who are you????

Sounds like Schu has gone limp wristed. Schu's best move was incorporating Kimberly's friends into his wholehearted retreat from manhood so that they would post on eachother's blogs about how great Schu is and as we all know, good press from the wife's friends can cover over a multitude of sins, (I think that is in the bible). You married "a girl for all seasons" get her some clothes that work that way too. Keep the faith, young Mayo. Keep the...gotta go, here comes Emille.
